I have had a call from this number every single day for the past week or so. I have answered once and hung up immediately - they then called back straight away. THIS IS NOT A VODAFONE NUMBER

I still keep getting the calls but usually I am unaware of them until I check my phone. I have decided I don't want to answer these vigerous telemarketers. -

It does look like suspicious. But it turns out to be Vodafone sales, could be a contractor of Vodafone. I told the lady that I was concerned about the security. Then I received a text code from Vodafone. I was interested to change to the endless date plan, so I proceeded. They do require your driver's license, but not credit card information. After processing, I received an email from Vodafone, and half an hour later, my phone shows no signal, I rebooted the phone(they did not tell you about it!), and the App changed to another interface, and some emails and text came to me, saying the new plan is activated. I just want to say that it is true for this case, Stay alert! Do not trust anyone or give your information out before you confirm the situation. If you are not interested, just tell them you are happy with you current plan.

I asked the lady to call me back so I could check if this was reliable or not. I got into contact with Vodafone and they confirmed that this number was one of their sales reps and that this is not a scam. Flick them a chat on their website if you want extra reassurance.

I see there's mixed views in these comments as to whether this really is Vodafone... if it IS vodafone, then Vodafone clearly do not care about security, for they give no clear way to verify this.
A kind sounding woman called me today - she sounded a LOT like the lady who says "welcome to Vodafone" on 777 and reads out the options - This actually made me partially suspicious to start with as I thought someone could be mimicking to entice belief it is Vodafone.
And so I asked, how can you verify to me this is a vodafone number? They asked me to type a help website exactly as they stated - Again, this made me suspicious. So I instead went to Vodafones main site and clicked help myself (this should, in theory, direct me to where they want me to go if legit). But the lady on the phone insisted "No! You must type the address..."... So I hung up as this all rang alarm bells.
VODAFONE... If this is legit, let customers get to the verification via your own website! Do not do a round-about way setting off all sorts of alarm bells. Surely Vodafone could have a consistent outbound number that comes up as 'Vodafone' given this is their services I am using....
If this ain't Vodafone, then any one from Vodafone who happens to read this better get cracking down on that number impersonating y'all... -

100% scam. Staffers will claim to be from Vodafone and want to upgrade such and such etc - all lies. Block this number.
Anon replied 10/14/21, 4:47 PMIf you go to the vodafone website, and type this number (with a space between 09 and the rest of the number), you will find that this is an official vodafone sales number and that you are incorrect and are creating some really uncomfortable conversations for Vodafone workers just doing their jobs by putting forth this kind of comment without first doing your research. -

Was a Vodafone call and they provided a great plan that I jumped.
Some previous comments about the call being odd, different locations and the information they were asking. Possible scam. My call wasn't.
As someone who's worked in a similar call center role but from home. The system generates a number that you have no control over. So employees from the south island, Hamilton etc when they Call you the number could come up as a Auckland area code.
The questions accessing your file etc. It's all just a script with call safety and guide lines and targets involved that they follow, at times the caller may not even have complete access to a Vodafone file/account just more of the generic info not the complete details.
But in saying that I'm super happy with my plan. It was usually 40 a month but the agent gave me 15 dollars off, no contract. Bonus for me wuhoo. -

Called and introduced themselves as Vodafone, calling to check in with their existing customers etc. Didn't provide their personal name. Asked if I was over 18 - weird as they would know that from my records! Then asked if I was happy with my plan etc., said yes. A few niceties and then hung up. Short and pointless call. Definitely were looking for a sale of some kind or to get some more information out of me... Don't trust this number...

ringing everyday. finally picked up on 5th day. saying they are christchurch based and wanting to update my plan. dont forget it came from an 09 number. saved nu,ber under scammers so i can waste their time.

Stated from Vodafone on voice message, saying better options available re current plan... Called back and went straight to VM.
Then tried to confirm this number by calling Vodafone NZ but they were useless in any info re this potential niusance call. -

I got a call from a polite sounding kiwi girl. She asked about my pre-pay phone plan and she voluntarily gave me some incorrect details about my data usage.
Very sure this is a scam caller.
Also, the number registered as Whangarei but she claimed she was in Auckland. -

Scam Call has been reported with number 099830799 as Aggressive advertising
This number has been trying to get hold of me for two weeks. I finally answered. It was a polite professional sounding english girl claiming to be from Vodafone in Whangarei. She asked if I wanted to upgrade my plan to a $40 vodafone plan she is selling for only $25 a month if I would just provide her with my full name, drivers licence and credit card information. This deal is not available on the website and usually Vodafone would simply send out an automatic SMS message for their promotions. I asked why the number popped up on my phone as Potential Fraud. She said this was because she was calling from an automated number however the number is an ordinary landline. She didn't seem to know anything about me, my name or my current plan. I politely hung up and blocked her number. Very believable though unless you ask personal questions about your current plan and usage to catch them out.
I freaked out, rang the 0800 number for vodafone and was told i had to switch off my fone to reboot so the new plan will start.. which i did.. but i was angry they didnt tell me to do that in the first call, and also i didnt agree to them changing it as i was still to view the email???
