Called my house from a number from Paraparaumu region number (04-901-xxxx) and asked if I could call 0800222378 back to settle an account. Refused to tell me what company they acted for. Googled the 0800 number to find a variety of comments on social media/community watch sites stating that this is a scam. Heard they were on Fair Go in 2011 in conjunction with another scam. Called them up and abused the shit out them. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY PERSONAL DETAILS they are VERY PERSISTENT and will urge you to divulge details about yourself. As soon as I mentioned to them that they are all over Facebook and everyone is notifying others that they are scammers they promptly hung up. Sound like a legitimate debt collector to you? I think not.

Here's an interesting fact. If you get a ticket from any parking company that has a list of conditions in a car park. Don't pay it. They are allowed to give an instant infringement notice….but you are not obliged to pay. It is because it is contractual and you cannot get an instant fine for a contract that you have entered into, even if it is in absentia. Parking meters are different but independent companies are open slather.

I rang the this number which was given in a letter to the occupier of a vacated flat. The staff representative gave the me name of the company. This company is listed on the Internet and has offices in Auckland and Wellington in New Zealand. The staff member I spoke with was most helpful and polite.
